Barry Pogson

National Institute for Basic Biology

Dr. Barry Pogson is the Director of the Australian Research Council Training Centre for Future Crops.

Barry Pogson completed his PhD at Macquarie University, Australia and worked for six years in the USA. Since joining ANU in 2000 he has been Deputy Director in a Centre of Excellence in Plant Energy Biology. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and an Australian Laureate Fellow in synthetic biology focusing on pathways and processes that regulate growth and resilience in crops and has led projects on energy use efficiency, drought, photosynthesis and chloroplast communication. Currently, he is the Director of the Australian Research Council Training Centre for Future Crops, which is focused on training the next generation of leaders in the new genetic technologies for improving yield and resilience in response to changing climates, inclusive of societal expectations.
